Apparently, it takes a global pandemic for people to get their life together. Myself, along with others, have been trying new things, picking up old hobbies or skills. I’ve been baking more, re-learning a language, trying yoga and even going back to a classic, Sims 4 (which is quite fitting seeing as I can't live a normal life right now, why not do it in a virtual reality?!). Keeping yourself busy is key, but influencers are making it out to be a time to find the cure for world disease, lose 50lbs and write a novel all in one day. It can't be just me who is fed up with the pressure on social media of ‘don't waste this precious time!’, ‘how to be the most productive version of you!’ etc etc. It's boring. Really really boring. It's important that during a global pandemic, we allow ourselves to be less productive than usual, to have down days, to feel helpless. It's okay, because it does feel like the world is at a stand still, it's just so vital that we maintain our wellbeing, whatever that takes.
Although it may be hard, lockdown is essential. Keeping yourself busy is vital. I’ve been making sure that I stick to my ‘normal’ routine. Keeping up with the demand of college work and ensuring that deadlines are met. You may find it helpful to keep in contact with your friends in order to maintain your wellbeing. It must be hard to not get lonely, being isolated from everyone we know and love. Even though celebrities are encouraging people to be the best version of themselves, this shouldn’t always be the case. We are allowed to feel down, feel as though things won’t get better. Bottling it up only makes it worse.
