(Stanton village in Cotswolds)
Contrary to popular belief, you don’t have to leave the UK to find a picturesque holiday destination! Just right here in the UK we home beautiful vacation spots with Cadgwith Cove in Cornwall being the tip of the iceberg.
Kicking off with the previously mentioned Cadgwith Cove in Cornwall. This little fishing village has an accessible beach that splits into two; in one part the working fishing boats and community is visible and in the other is a quiet swimming spot suitable for snorkelling, rock diving, or just paddling. The little Cove is spotted with homely cottages surrounding the windy path. Just around the cliffs is the ‘devil's frying pan’ - a 200ft hole in the cliffs where the caves collapsed in. The Cadgwith Cove charm is summed up in the humble pub up the road from the fishing village.
To continue with more England destinations, Stanton in Cotswolds is bound to leave a lasting impression. The best way to explore this village is on horseback - with local schools offering rides to the viewpoint, you can see up to 16 counties on a clear day! And if this exhausts you, you can cool off in the local village pub.
Fancy a road trip to Wales? Picton Castle in Haverfordwest is known for its mediaeval castle. This includes the castle apartments, rooms and beautiful gardens - during a tour you can learn about the castle's history dating back to the 13th century when it was built. The gardens include a mediterranean garden and a walled garden. If a sightseeing holiday sounds interesting then Picton Castle may be for you!
If you seek a thrill while on holiday then look no further. Located on Loch Eilt, Eilean na Moine is both a hidden gem and a famous island. How is that even possible? Well Eilean na Moine is one of the Harry Potter filming locations in Scotland. It was used in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1 as Dumbledore’s resting place. As this is one of the most watched movies of all time, that makes the island one of the most famous locations in the world. Yet, most people don’t know it even exists. The only way you can get there is with your own kayak. It’s not exactly the accessible kind of place - hence why it’s a great fit for thrill seekers!
With these 4 hidden gems there’s something for everybody. From quiet fishing villages to kayaking one of the most famous locations in the world! Just further proof you don’t need to leave the UK to create lasly memories in incredibly scenic places.
