Euro 2020 Review - England vs Scotland

by Benjamin Thompson

England came into the game as clear favourites with their star-studded squad involving players from a variety of superpower clubs around Europe, whereas Scotland had just a handful of top class players along with two players from Motherwell, clearly showing the gaping disparity between the two nations.

The pressure was piled onto England at Wembley by the media and fans as the Three Lions were expected to blow away a Scotland team who had not competed in a major international tournament for 25 years.

All the big guns were deployed by manager Gareth Southgate with the likes of Harry Kane, Raheem Sterling, Phil Foden and Mason Mount all in the starting xi but to no avail. The final result was a bland 0-0, a dull game for every England fan and neutral, but not for the Scottish. They partied in the streets of London until dawn celebrating a historic point against The Auld Enemy in the Capital.
