11 months later, Kylie revealed Son's name on social media after changing her first choice.
Following the streams of weather inspired names, Kylie finally announced through instagram, her 11-month-old’s name on Saturday. The weather was on her side 5 years ago when the couple adapted storm to Stormi- and now air to Aire. Despite the public's unfamiliarity with the name 'Aire', many got struck with much worse connotations of the newest member of the Webster family.
The “Kardashians” star gave birth to her baby boy in February 2022 with her on-again, off-again boyfriend, Travis Scott. She originally revealed they had named him Wolf; however, the pair decided to change that by the following month.“We just haven’t fully legally changed it or anything, so I don’t want to announce a new name and change it again,” she told “Extra” in April 2022.
Through fans on social media discussing their thoughts on the newly released name, many thought to dig deep into how they felt.
It's no surprise that this rising glamorised family is choosing baby names, which I think they forget will last forever, that are on top 100 baby names of the year. From the city of Chicago, to the direction of North, it could be seen that Kourtney was being mainstream with the slightly old-fashioned, but recognisable Penelope. In fact, it could be that Aire fits in perfectly with the family- clearly Kylie did her research. But not so much on the translations.
It arised not long after it was announced, Fans took to social media to point out that it was unfortunate to have the meaning “penis” in Arabic.
“His name doesn’t translate well,” one TikToker wrote, while a Twitter user noted that Aire is a “common” slang word for “my penis.”“God help her if she comes to the Middle East,” another person wrote, while one more chimed in, “all my Lebanese people [are] wheezing right now.” Kids at school can’t judge him for not having money, or having bad genes but perhaps this could be the spark to start the fire.
Many people pointed out that Aire Webster’s name has different meanings in other languages. A source told People that the reality star chose her son’s unique name because it translates to “Lion of God” in Hebrew. Meanwhile, some Spanish-speakers said that Aire means “air” in Spanish.
After revealing her son’s name on Instagram, some fans were confused about how to pronounce the baby’s new moniker, and Jenner replied with the correct pronunciation. When one fan account on Instagram wondered if it was pronounced “air” or “air-ee”, Jenner herself responded to the post with a comment and said: “AIR”, adding a red heart emoji.
So with that being said, Kylie had her heart in the right place, its name had meaning and passion but with that being displayed I don’t think its intention got fulfilled as expected . Let's think of this positively, perhaps it could be a stepping stone.An area for improvement. Maybe even a life lesson- keep the name simple. Or just do the research.
