Your guide to the ultimate Series and Films do get lost in this Lockdown.
Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness // Neflix = This series is just madness! - just watch it. Keep with it and you won't be disappointed. It follows a rivalry between big cat eccentrics takes a dark turn when Joe Exotic, a controversial animal park boss, is caught in a murder-for-hire plot.
The Crown (tv series) // Netflix = This series may seem boring but it actually has very good cinematography and the story line is very good. It follows the political rivalries and romance of Queen Elizabeth II's reign and the events that shaped the second half of the twentieth century.
American Horror Story //Netflix = An anthology series centering on different characters and locations, including a house with a murderous past, an insane asylum, a witch coven, a freak show circus, a haunted hotel, a possessed farmhouse, a cult, the apocalypse, and a slasher summer camp. Each season has a different story with mostly the same actors but playing different roles, this series is the perfect balance of gore and psychological horror.
Pose //Netflix = This series is amazing and made by Ryan Murphy, so of course it doesn't disappoint. This is a great LGBTQ+ film. Set in 1987, a diagnosis spurs Ball fixture Blanca to start her own house in the Bronx, where she soon takes in homeless dancer Damon and sex worker Angel.
After Life //Netflix = After Tony's wife dies unexpectedly, his nice-guy persona is altered into an impulsive, devil-may-care attitude; taking his old world by storm. This film has dark humour and had me crying and laughing, a brilliant story line and great cast.
The Mandalorian //Disney + = The travels of a lone bounty hunter in the outer reaches of the galaxy, far from the authority of the New Republic. To put it in the simplest terms, The Mandalorian is set after the original Star Wars trilogy (aka A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi) but before the recent sequel trilogy (aka The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker).
Trainspotting //Sky movies = This film follows Renton, deeply immersed in the Edinburgh drug scene as he tries to clean up and get out, despite the allure of the drugs and influence of friends. Hilarious, dark and a classic.
Contagion //Netflix = Not the best film to watch in a global pandemic, but oh well. It's about Healthcare professionals, government officials and everyday people who find themselves in the midst of a pandemic as the CDC works to find a cure.
28 days later // Sky movies = Four weeks after a mysterious, incurable virus spreads throughout the UK, a handful of survivors try to find sanctuary. This film is a great zombie film - another classic.
The Exorcist //Sky movies = I took it upon myself to have a marathon and watch all the films in order. It's a supernatural horror set in 1973 America, it was banned for 11 years.
All the hobbit and Lord of the Rings films// combination of Netflix, Sky movies and dvd = Took me 11.2 hours in total apparently, no regrets. Too long to even start to explain. It's a must watch, the book is great too.

Doctor Who (BBC IPlayer) - One of my favourite shows of all time, rewatching it for the 7th time currently. I’ve also seen it so many times that I can roughly name the season and episode number of a specific episode.
All the MCU films in order (Disney+) - I myself have only just started watching all of them in release order and am currently in Phase Two of the films. They are all extremely enjoyable, entertaining, and interesting and I can’t wait to finish them all.
Skins (Netflix and All Four) - I decided to watch this show because it got recommended to me by a friend, and I loved it!! It has 7 seasons with only 8/9 40minute episodes in each. It took me a minute to get into the show but by the 2nd episode I was hooked and I couldn’t have loved it more.
New Girl (Netflix) - I remember watching the odd episode when they originally aired on E4 and when I saw it was on netflix I had to rewatch it.
Bridgerton (Netflix) - Very entertaining, the background music is full of classical covers of modern, recognisable hits
Marvel's Agents of SHIELD (Disney+) - I watched this show before I saw all of the MCU films and surprisingly understood most of what was going on - the cast is very easy to love and the show itself is very worthwhile.
Teen Wolf (Netflix) - 6 seasons worth of Dylan O’Brien - enough said.
Once Upon a Time (Netflix) - It took basic fairy tales and turned them into series spanning 6 seasons. It was amazing! It also features many recognizable faces and characters throughout

My go to for lockdown number 3 has been The Office USA. I don’t know what exactly draws me in, the comedy or the many background storylines, but something about it is just so easy to watch. It is one of those shows that requires no effort or attention to watch, you can just sit back and enjoy. It seems to be a love-hate kind of TV show based on what my friends have to say about it, but I think it is worth a try cause you might love it.
Twilight has been added to Netflix which I loved and watched them all in a matter of days. Another personal favourite film collection has to be the Hunger Games. I got the collection for Christmas and haven’t stopped watching them since. Over lockdown a series i watched was The End of the F***ing World. That was funny and a bit criminal and I'm pretty sure I could get away with murder now.
I am not quite the series kinda person - I would much rather watch a collection of films with my mum or my boyfriend on watch party and have a logical and intense discussion on its content. As a film student, I love discussing aesthetics and narrative structure. My boyfriend and I, both, have a massive passion for film and music which means we are ones for a thinky movie and a wicked soundtrack. Personally over lockdown, I have watched many films but one I will always recommend is my fav Pulp Fiction. It may be long but the twists and powerful soundtrack keeps you hooked. Although through watching a lot of films I may have found a close contender. The Prestige. Oh my, I have never been more shocked at an ending in my life! If you like to think or want to have your jaw on the floor then this is the film to watch. One of the best cinematic endings I have ever seen. And it has Hugh Jackman so there is a little eye candy while you watch ;). Other films that will get you thinking or just simply have your jaw on the ground are: Shutter Island, Se7en, Trainspotting, Quadrophenia, Baby driver and so many more but we would be here next week. - Em
During the first lockdown I watched The Gilmore Girls on Netflix. The show was funny, relatable and comforting. - Sulena
Power - this series is amazing and will have you hooked within the first few episode
Timeless - one of my favourite series on Netflix, with one of my favourite actors Matt Lanter
