ugh so naturally my opinions are limited but Idris Elba could be a good choice for the role. I think casting a woman possibly wouldn’t have the progressive, positive effect that you would assume as it may come across as forced or performative. However if the franchise does continue, which is likely, it would be really refreshing to see someone other than a ci,s white man becoming 007.

James Bond is a wonderful franchise that is a key part of British film culture. Perhaps it’s time is coming but I don’t think the sun has set on it yet, after all it was the highest grossing film of the pandemic era (according to IndieWire). As far as I’m concerned Idris Elba would be a brilliant and refreshing take on James Bond to add to the line up of previous actors. Whatever they decide to do, from continuing the franchise to deciding the next actor, I’m sure it will be great.

I think the James Bond franchise deserves to enter a new era and Idris Elba would be an excellent candidate for this role as he brings the British iconicity, which others in the industry lack.

I think a good idea for the future of James Bond is to possibly dive into the past and see how a teenage boy became the man and spy we all know. He always references moments from his past, why don’t we see it in action. Did he have a mentor? etc… I would love to see more of the James Bond movies in the future to see the progression shown within the character as well as giving other actors the chance to do his character justice and it would be interesting to see the different approaches taken on giving him a persona. Daniel Craig gave a whole new meaning to James Bond by making him this moody, brooding and unpredictable character completely contrasting the banter from the previous actors who portrayed 007. I do believe there will come a certain point where his story needs to end, however I still think there’s a lot more to be adventured with (particularly James Bond as maybe something other than the heroine). .
