The Do’s and Don’ts of learning from home

Do : Find ways to occupy your mind and entertain yourself so you keep

positive and motivated, small victories and achievements.

Don't : Don't do your work in your bed, try to get up and get dressed otherwise your ‘place of rest’ becomes a study space and it gets hard to differentiate the two so you feel unmotivated while doing work and unable to rest while trying to sleep.

Do: Have a nice and tidy workspace to work from as that will make you feel more productive and it might make you feel a lot better mentally as well.

Don’t: Let your work pile up as that can make you feel stressed and overwhelmed. Since we are in lockdown, looking after your mental health is especially important.

Do : Make sure you’re on top of assignments and the like - it can pile up surprisingly quickly and completely overwhelm you.

Don’t : Go to bed early morning and wake up at midday or oversleep.

Do : Ask for help when needed!

Don’t: Feel guilty or like you aren’t trying hard enough because you’re not on top of everything. College is a lot, and if you try to remain calm you’ll be able to organise and get back on top in no time.

Do: Stay focused, find a routine and set up that works for you

Don't: Sleep in! Even though online lessons give you more time in the morning, make sure you still take care of a healthy sleeping routine.

Do: Stick to a normal college day routine, even though you’re working from home and ensure that you have a proper place to study.

Don’t: leave things on your work space that might distract you during class.

Do: Make sure you’re on top of assignments and the like - it can pile up surprisingly quickly and completely overwhelm you.

Don’t: Be afraid to speak up and participate in the group discussions, it's okay if you get something wrong - you’re still learning.

Do: Make a list of achievable goals in the morning, even if it is just making your bed or doing a small workout, little wins throughout the day make it feel so much more positive.
