Review: Insatiable (Netflix)

by Elizabeth Ames

So, I've never been a series kind of person. I've always preferred movies, or even books. I just always seem to find myself getting bored and feeling like it's dragging on for too long. However, last week maybe I did a deep Netflix search as I really wanted to watch something good. I watched a few documentaries like ‘American murder: the family next door’, ‘The disappearance of Madeleine McCann’ and also ‘Crime scene: the vanishing at Cecil hotel’. They were all very heavy topics and serious mystery documentaries so I wanted to find something more light hearted and fun to watch.

That’s when I came across ‘Insatiable’ and watched the trailer which appeared to be funny and captivating. I’ve made my way through season 1 out of 2 which I’ve thoroughly enjoyed so far. It made me laugh a lot. It's wacky and silly which I enjoy as it’s easy to follow or do my college work with it playing in the background. The episodes are approximately 45 minutes, the characters are funny, different and interesting with a good story line. Patty, who used to be overweight transformed her life and turned into a pageant queen. Watching her train, learn and get into funny situations is entertaining and enjoyable. I believe lockdown has changed my perspective on a lot of things, including taking the time to do things I enjoy for myself and not constantly dwelling on college or work or whatever is bothering me and I’ve learnt a lot about self love and I think finding and watching a good series which I enjoy helps with that.
