Grey's Anatomy is a television series that focuses on a hospital and the lives of the surgical interns, residents and attendings that work there. It follows both their professional and personal relationships, and you get to watch the interns slowly develop into highly skilled surgeons. The show has so many plots and twists throughout the several seasons which makes every episode entertaining and exciting.
Although the show is mainly based around surgery, some of my most favourite episodes do not directly involve surgery and instead include events like a bomb explosion, hospital shooting, car crash and plane crash. These are just a few of the many episodes that contain events that shock the viewer and will have you on the edge of your seat the whole episode. Every episode has different surgical cases and new patients, as well as personal drama between the characters. It has the perfect combination of personal drama and surgical cases so that there is always a variety of ongoing plots; this can however make it confusing if you are not paying complete attention to the show.
Because of the large number of characters and plots, the show is able to represent a variety of different ethnicities, disabilities, gender and sexualities and more so that the audience is able to recognise themselves within the cast. In addition, these characters are given detailed storylines and are not stereotyped like so many other shows. The show also deals with many sensitive issues in an appropriate manner, for example in one episode a young boy was rushed into the hospital because he had been shot by a police officer because he had been stereotyped due to the colour of his skin. The show helps to bring awareness to things like this that regularly happen in real life and may not be shown in other shows or not taken seriously.
To conclude, this show has so many exciting, sad and serious plots throughout the seasons that, in my opinion, make it one of the best shows ever.
