The team at Loop reflect on whether Life is, indeed, improving in the midst of a global pandemic or if for some, life remains an ongoing battle.

My life is good when I listen to music. Music is something everyone enjoys. There is always something for someone to relax, dance, run, or walk to. Music makes moments memorable. Music makes us feel every kind of emotion. Happy, joy, sad or low. Wherever you will go, music is always there.
My life is good when I take a good photo. When I take a good and clear photo, the adrenaline I get is unreal. I’m proud, beaming and ecstatic. Photography is all down to you and what you can do with a camera. Make people see what you can. Different perspectives, colours or objects. You can express anything with one click of a button.
My life is good when I watch motorsport. When it is race week, the amount of excitement I feel is insane. It is unpredictable, dramatic and emotional. It is so adrenaline fuelled. Every weekend you have no idea what you are about to watch. Is it a large moment for the championship? Is it a driver outperforming his car? Has there been big news amongst the teams and the paddock? You will never know until that race is finished. However, the racing is never over in that one weekend.
My life is good when I get a note from my sister. Finding a little piece of paper wherever I am with her writing on it, there is nothing that beats it. You know they are going to miss you even when you are out for a little while. It is a little thing that gives you hope, happiness or makes your day better. So much love and happiness on one small piece of paper.
My life is good when I go out for a walk. With someone or not, there is so much to enjoy about a simple walk. It doesn’t have to for miles and miles in a scenic place. It could just be around the corner for 10 minutes.
My life is good when I find a good tv show. I delve head first when I find a good one. I could get some snacks while I watch it. I could sit in the same position for the next hour because I am so hooked and zoned in on it. Sometimes, there isn’t anything good to watch, but you could rewatch or try a new genre!

Is Life Good? Well, the answer to that question depends on a few things; where you live, how much money you have, relationships, family etc. But if you looked at the average population, would you say life is good?
Just in the UK, 11.7 Million people were in relative low income before housing costs with 14.5 million people in relative low income after housing costs in 2019/20 according to the House of Commons. That is roughly 21.8% of the population. For those people the likelihood is that life isn’t great especially during this global pandemic which has caused a financial crisis where jobs have been lost people have been evicted and even more. The pandemic could be a reason as to why people would say no; many are dying and seriously ill as well as lockdowns which have been harsh for the public. However, regarding lockdowns, things seem to be getting better and you could say relative to recent times life is good. This pandemic which has been haunting the globe these past two years seems to be slowly fading away.
Moral of the story is life isn’t good for everyone but it just might be getting better.

At times this statement is true and at times not so much. I will admit that I have been through a lot of gnarly stuff in the past but at the end of the day I’m still smiling, making jokes, puns and I don’t give up, This is all because I am not alone in my life. Family, friends and loved ones help me a lot when I am feeling down. They always know how to make my life good...great in fact. They make me laugh, happy and fulfilled.
Life is also good probably due to where you live and the people you live with. I personally don’t live in the biggest house but it is my home and it keeps me safe and warm making my life good. It also contains my parents who keep me fed, clothed, warm. My parents also keep me believing in myself and inspire me out of anyone on the planet, this to me also makes my life good.
Surround yourself with good people, live in a good environment and just be a good person and your life I can guarantee will be good like mine.

Well, life is better.
On 16th March 2020, England went into a national lockdown and for 18 months, our lives have been ruled by COVID 19; we’ve had to stay at home, work online and miss out on many things of importance, however the end is in sight. Some people would argue this is not the end but in fact the start of a new era of kindness and looking out for each other. At the start of lockdown many stories came out about the incredible things that people were doing nationwide to keep spirits high, help out those most vulnerable and raise charity. Including Sir Captain Tom Moores walking around his garden which raised an incredible £33m for the NHS, celebrities producing videos and donating and also those locally who helped in the community- care home workers, teachers, students, etc. The pandemic has introduced a whole host of new initiatives which have made the country a kinder place.
Although so much sadness and devastation has occurred over the last 18 months life is good. We have grown as a society and become more aware of each other. Large movements happened over lockdown including Black lives matter and violence against women awareness (linking to the Sarah Everard case). Obviously these issues have not been solved but people have come together to share their experiences of racism and sexism especially online where many people spent a lot of their time while we were stuck at home. I believe lockdown allowed people to reflect on what is going on around them and to be more selfless.
