A quick guide to the US Presidential Election 2020

The US presidential elections are looming closer. We are now in October. The US presidential elections will be held In less than 3 weeks on November 3rd 2020.


So What Do We Know So Far?

On the 2nd of October 2020, President Donald Trump and his wife, The First Lady Melania Trump both tested positive for coronavirus. This news comes after the very first presidential debate that happened on the 29th of September.


The president had a speedy recovery and he proceeded to deliver his ‘I’m feeling great ‘ speech on the 10th of October. Where the president removed his mask and delivered the speech whilst looking healthy.


The second presidential debate was held on the 15th of October where Biden and Trump went head to head for the second time. The second presidential debate was marginally different from the first. The first debate in contrast was a car crash: Insults were thrown, families were attacked, and constant interruptions were present throughout. In the second debate both Trump and Biden were in defensive mode as they deflected questions about their plans for the future.


On the 22nd of October the third and last presidential debate will be held before election day on November the 3rd.


Looking Back On The Election

On the 14th Of January 2020, 5 candidates were qualified for the seventh Democratic debate. Joe Biden, Pete Buttigieg, Amy Klobuchar, Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren.


On the 29th Of February Joe Biden won 49% of the vote in South Carolina.


On the 17th Of March Joe Biden won 296 delegates


Joe Biden, full steam ahead, kept on winning more votes, sweeping up places such as Dewlware his home state and New York, one of the largest delegate states apart from California and Texas.


Differences in Policies

Trump and Biden both belong to two different political parties. Trump belongs to the Republicans which are predominantly right-wing. And Biden belongs to the opposition party the Democrats which are predominantly left-wing.


Trump is ‘Pro life’ on abortion rates whereas Biden is ‘Pro choice'.


Trump wants to deport all undocumented migrants and build a wall on the Mexcian border


Biden supports a paln to legislate undocumented migrants including helpingthem to learn English.


Trump wants to get rid of affordable healthcare (Obama Care)


Biden wants to insure everyone under the age of 21.





We'll have to wait until November 3rd 2020 to see the results of this much anticipated Presidential Election .
